Things have been a little crazy lately...many of you know that my grandpa LA passed away last Saturday night (11/29/2008)...we were in Kansas City through Wednesday for the funeral...it was strange being gone a week and trying to get back to the world of the working! Gracie had a rough day with the sitter on Thursday trying to get back into a routine. Today Gracie and I went with Grandma Belinda to get some pictures taken. Gracie did a great job! There are some great pictures...I don't know if I will be able to post them but I will try.

Gracie is a changing girl...she is all over the place now...she is getting up on her knees but not a fan of standing all the way up...she says mama and dada all the time...and she will even say it to us or in reference to us, which is pretty exciting...her first tooth is very visible and #2 is coming in very soon...she loves inspecting everything...she has a very inquisitive spirit...and an independent spirit also...

Here are a variety of pics from the past several weeks...

Aaahhh...I am going to get caught up sometime

Ok...School started about a month ago and life is crazy. We are doing fine...getting into a routine, but it is hard for me to keep up on other things like this blog. Grace is now 6 months old...she weighs 19 lbs. 2.5 oz. and is 28 inches long. She is full of life...jumping around all the time. Here are a few pics until I get a chance to update things more.

Baby Quilt

Gracie received a baby quilt from her Grandpa Paul. It was pieced by a lady at the nursing home and quilted by a lady who volunteers or works at the nursing home. The lady who quilted it is also named Grace. This was her last quilt. Her vision is too poor to be able to piece together anymore quilts. The two Grace's got to meet today as well as Teresa, the lady who quilted the quilt. Grace is on the right, Teresa on the left.

Our Girls...Gracie & Janey

Here are some photos of Gracie and Janey playing. Until Ryan saw the photos, he didn't realize how close they got. He thought they were a little too close, but they really did have fun playing together!

5 months old

Gracie was 5 months old on Friday. She is quite a little ball of energy right now. She loves rolling around on the floor. She has figured out how to make funny faces (she scrunches up her nose and makes a funny noise) and snort in order to make people laugh. She loves doing it! The only thing holding back her good mood right now is teething. Teething puts her in a bad mood sometimes, which why wouldn't it! The first tooth has not broken through yet, but it has to be getting close.

Gracie has also figured out Janey, our dog, can be fun to be around too! Our sitter has a new little puppy and Gracie plays with her some, so she was brave the other day and petted Janey. Janey is good with Gracie, sometimes she gets a little too excited but is never mean or too crazy around her. I think someday soon they will be great friends.

I will upload some pictures later today...I think Gracie is waking up!

Tummy Time, Stage Two

Gracie loves rolling around on the floor. She usually likes to roll over, put her arms out, and head up just as Ryan or I leave the room. She is very independent. She doesn't like when we help her out too much. She is getting frustrated with not being able to crawl...that will come soon enough!

Slobber Mama

Gracie is a Slobber Mama! She slobbers all the time! We hope that means teeth are coming in soon...I don't know how much longer we have to wait. Gracie puts everything in her mouth and we go through at least two outfits per day because of slobber alone. I try to use bibs to cut down on outfit changes, but she just chews on them and eventually the bib is super slobbery too!

4th of July

On the 4th of July, we hung out with our friends Brian, Lela, Livi, and Brendan. We grilled and later headed downtown for the fireworks. During the day, there was a bald eagle in town. It was a lot bigger than I thought it would be. Gracie had two outfits for the day. The first shirt she was in was for the fourth. It said "Red, White and Cute!" I bought it weeks before and thought it was plenty big for Gracie. Well, I was mistaken. Gracie had to be miserable. I kept her in the shirt for a little while, but I did relieve her with a new outfit later on. Here are some pics from the day...

A little update...

I wanted to update the blog this week, maybe a time or two. I am in Tennessee at my parents house with Gracie and I left the cord at home that connects my camera to the computer. I will give you a quick update now and add pictures later.

Gracie did finally roll over, once. She did it a week ago Thursday. Since then, she has not seemed too interested. She has tried maybe a dozen times here and there, evidentally it will become old hat.

I took her to the doctor last Monday to get weighed. She was three months old last Sunday (Father's Day). She weighed 13 lbs. 15 1/2 oz. I was thinking, couldn't they just say 14 lbs! We had a good Father's Day. Gracie made her dad breakfast before church. We went to church and didn't do too much the rest of the day. I tried to introduce bubbles to her in the afternoon. She wasn't too interested, but maybe soon. We went over the Ryan's parents for dinner later in the evening. I've got a good picture I will post later of Ryan & Gracie.

Thursday, Gracie and I came down here to my parents. It was quite an adventure. I had to stop as we were almost through St. Louis for a diaper change. It was a monster of a diaper. It was poopy and eveywhere. She had to change clothes...I thought I might have to change after changing her. The poop was everywhere. I had to wipe out the car seat. What a mess! Later we stopped to eat. I always hate feeding her on the road...since she has reflux she is prone to spitting up a little more than normal and I always worry about her spitting up in the car. Well, after eating, she spit up and we had to change outfits again! After several hours and another stop, we finally made it to Nashville. It is quite a task to travel with such a little baby on your own. On Saturday, we went down to Huntsville for a few hours to visit my cousin Amy and her family. We had a good time. It was good to see them and their house and everything. Molly and Anna held Gracie for a little while...I should have taken a picture. I am not much of a picture taking person. I am slowly getting better about taking pictures. Sunday, Gracie stole the show at church. There was an ice cream social after the evening service. She almost didn't know what to do with so many people around. She loves people watching!

Since I am off for a while, we decided to extend our trip. The original plan was to stay for the weekend, but we are probably going to leave after this coming weekend. We will have to get settled in and Janey (our dog) might be coming home the next weekend. That will be exciting. I didn't think I would miss her so much...she is such a fun dog. She is getting trained for bird hunting.

Anyways, that's all for now...

Wwwwaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh!

This is what I have been hearing for the past...I don't know how long. Gracie has been fighting off her nap off and on for over an hour. Yesterday she did the same thing, but feel asleep much sooner. I think she may be getting closer to sleep...I hope!

First night alone...

Gracie slept in her room all by herself last night. She did fine...she did, however, end up in the totally opposite position than where she started. I got up several times, just like when she first came home. I had the baby monitor next to my side of the bed so I could hear if anything happened. Of course it was turned up as loud as it would go. All we heard all night was kind of a static sound. The baby monitor base is not right next to her bed so I couldn't hear every move or breath. Maybe I should move the baby monitor a little closer! :) I got up several times just to make sure she was breathing and of course she was fine.

It was pretty funny this morning....since she sleeps all night she is very hungry in the morning. So I got up when I heard her crying. When I got to the crib she got quiet because she knew she was going to be fed soon. I laid her down on the changing table to change her first. She always seems to eat better with a clean diaper. As soon as I laid her down, she let out the loudest and most pitiful scream/cry. Man, was she hungry! She was soon fed and all was happy in the Engemann household!

Firsts...

We have been having a couple big things happen in the past few days. Gracie tried for the first time last night to roll over. She hasn't made it yet, but it still trying. I have never seen her so mad. Gracie slept in her crib in her room last night. It made me a little nervous but not too bad. Actually, we have a queen size bed in Gracie's room and we slept there last night. I think I will probably sleep there again tonight. :)

Go Chiefs!

Ryan, Gracie, and I went to Kansas City to visit my Grandparents over Memorial Day weekend. My mom and Mary were also in town for the weekend!
